Who doesn’t love a good high school movie cliche? You know, tropes like the mean popular girl, the incredibly winsome new kid, the snarky outsiders, the handsome jock who always turns out to be a d-bag. Well, THE CRAFT takes all of those vital elements, mixes them together with some magic and poof! AN AWESOME MOVIE IS BORN.
This film is about as crazy as ’90s Hollywood ever cranked out… and you will love every witchy minute of it. New girl in school, Sarah (Robin Tunney), becomes instantly cooler when you realize she’s a natural witch; while the goth girl, Nancy (Balk, who should’ve spurned a whole new Oscar category for Best Crazy Eyes) becomes tremendously freakier when you realize that she can kill you on a whim.
At this Girlie Night presentation of THE CRAY, er, THE CRAFT, we’ll welcome you to the coven with your very own witchy accessories — candles! rosaries! snakes! — and we’ll even loosen our normally strict quiet zone policy a bit so we can all yell “Witch, Please!” at the screen when things get magically absurd. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll get in a game of Light As a Feather, Stiff as a Board before the show.
