What’s Going on at WonderCon?

Spring has sprung and in Anaheim, California, that means one big thing: WonderCon! Yes, WonderCon 2017 is almost here and it promises to be an epic event. The three-day convention boasts a broad roster of guests. The schedule includes a huge slate of games and panels. There’s plenty for the kids to do, and an easy way to manage your schedule in the palm of your hand.

WonderCon

WonderCon descends on the Anaheim Convention Center from March 31 to April 2. An offshoot of San Diego Comic Con, WonderCon is a huge event on its own. Sponsors include ComiXology, DC Comics, the SyFy Channel and NBC. The full schedule of events is available on the Official Site. Guests

WonderCon has plenty of authors and artists scheduled to appear. Sergio Aragones of MAD Magazine and Groo the Wanderer is scheduled. The Maze Runner author James Dashner and Ladycastle author Delilah S. Dawson will attend. Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and Mercedes Lackey (Valdemar series) will be on hand. Comic book legends Bob Layton (Iron Man) and Jim Lee (X-Men) will meet with guests. The full list of guests is available HERE.

Anime

WonderCon boasts an extensive schedule of anime movies. Some of the best Japanese animation will air in designated rooms over the three-day schedule. Funimation, Media Blasters, NIS America, Right Stuf, Sentai Filmworks and VIZ Media have all provided films. Friday titles include Hunter X Hunter, Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars and Sailor Moon Crystal. Saturday titles include Magikano, Girl’s High, and Amagi Brilliant Park. Games

Offering over 95 game titles during the convention, including tournaments. The free games to play all weekend include Cards Against Humanity, Defiance Monopoly, Exploding Kittens, Fluxx, Guillotine, Lunch Money, My Little Pony, Pandemic, Settlers of Catan, Superfight, Superhero Squad, Ticket to Ride, Tsuro, Ultimate Battles, VS System, and many more. Tournaments include HeroClix, Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Red Dragon Inn, and Steve Jackson Games. The full list can be found HERE.

Blood Drive

WonderCon will once again host the Robert A. Heinlein Memorial Blood Drive. Heinlein, who passed away in 1988, was the author of many sci-fi works, including Starship Troopers. This will be the 11th year of WonderCon hosting the blood drive. The Red Cross will be on hand to collect blood donations all three days. Schedule your reservation to donate HERE.

The Official Comic-Con App has been updated with all of the WonderCon 2017 events. The free app provides information on the entire convention and the Toucan Blog. You can save events and build your own schedule. Updates are provided automatically for tablets or phones. The exhibit hall map is included, along with guest bios.
